- Actor de reparto: Christoph Waltz por (“Bastardos sin gloria”) se impuso sobre Matt Damon (“Invictus”); Woody Harrelson (“The Messenger”), Christopher Plummer (“The Last Station”) y Stanley Tucci (“The Lovely Bones”).
- Largometraje animado: “Up” venció a “Coraline”, “Fantastic Mr. Fox”, “The Princess and the Frog” y “The Secret of Kells”,
- Canción original: “The Weary Kind de “Crazy Heart”, escrita por Ryan Bingham y T Bone Burnett superó a “Almost There” de “The Princess and the Frog”, Randy Newman; “Down in New Orleans” de “The Princess and the Frog”, Randy Newman; “Loin de Paname” de “Paris 36″, Reinhardt Wagner y Frank Thomas y “Take It All” de “Nine”, Maury Yeston.
- Guión original: Mark Boal (“The Hurt Locker”) ganó su primer Oscar y venció en la categoría a Quentin Tarantino (“Inglourious Basterds”); Alessandro Camon y Oren Moverman (“The Messenger”); Joel Coen y Ethan Coen (“A Serious Man”) y Bob Peterson, Pete Docter, Tom McCarthy (“Up”).

- Cortometraje: “The New Tenants” venció a “The Door”, “Instead of Abracadabra”, “Kavi” y “Miracle Fish”.
- Maquillaje: “Star Trek” que superó a “Il Divo” y a “The Young Victoria”.
- Guión adaptado: Geoffrey Fletcher (“Precious”) se impuso sobre Neill Blomkamp y Terri Tatchell (“District 9”); Nick Hornby (“An Education”); Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell, Armando Iannucci, Tony Roche (“In the Loop”) y Jason Reitman y Sheldon Turner (“Up in the Air”).
- Actriz de reparto: Mo’Nique (“Precious”) ganó su primer Oscar superando a Penélope Cruz (“Nine”); Vera Farmiga (“Up in the Air”); Maggie Gyllenhaal (“Crazy Heart”) y Anna Kendrick (“Up in the Air”).
- Dirección de arte: “Avatar” obtuvo el primer premio de la noche superando a “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”, “Nine”, “Sherlock Holmes” y “The Young Victoria”.
- Vestuario: Sandy Powell (“The Young Victoria”) ganó su tercer Oscar al vencer a “Bright Star”, “Coco antes de Chanel”, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” y “Nine”.
- Edición de sonido: Paul N.J. Ottosson (“The Hurt Locker”) fue el primero en vencer a “Avatar” en una categoría que compartían las dos máximas favoritas, además de vencer a “Inglourious Basterds”, “Star Trek” y “Up”.
- Mezcla de sonido: Ray Beckett y Paul N.J. Ottosson (“The Hurt Locker”) se impusieron sobre “Avatar”, “Inglourious Basterds”, “Star Trek”y “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”.

- Edición: Chris Innis y Bob Murawski (“The Hurt Locker”) dieron la sorpresa al imponerse sobre “Avatar”, “District 9″, “Inglourious Basterds”, “Precious “.
- Película extranjera: “El secreto de sus ojos” (Argentina) venció a “Ajami” (Israel); “La teta asustada” (Perú); “Un profeta” (Francia) y “La cinta blanca”, Alemania.
- Mejor Actor: Jeff Bridges (“Crazy Heart”) superó a George Clooney (“Up in the Air”); Colin Firth (“A Single Man”); Morgan Freeman (“Invictus”) y Jeremy Renner (“The Hurt Locker”).
- Mejor Actriz: Sandra Bullock (“The Blind Side”) se impuso ante Helen Mirren (“The Last Station”); Carey Mulligan (“An Education”); Gabourey Sidibe (“Precious”) y Meryl Streep (“Julie & Julia”).
- Mejor Director: Kathryn Bigelow (“The Hurt Locker”) se convirtió en la primera mujer en ganar en esta categoría y superó a James Cameron (“Avatar”); Quentin Tarantino (“Inglourious Basterds”); Lee Daniels (“Precious”) y Jason Reitman (“Up in the Air”).
- Mejor película: “The Hurt Locker” finalmente se impuso sobre “Avatar”, “The Blind Side”, “District 9″, “An Education”, “Inglourious Basterds”, “Precious “, “A Serious Man”, “Up” y “Up in the Air”.
